Dear Educator/Community Gardener,

Master Gardeners of Prince William (MGPW) and Virginia Cooperative Extension Prince William are pleased to announce that we are offering competitive grant awards for the 2019 gardening season to schools and nonprofit community groups. Awards provide for instructional gardens including edible or pollinator gardens, Monarch Waystations, or schoolyard habitats in Prince William County, Manassas City or Manassas Park. The grant application form provides detailed information about eligibility and the application process. Your application will not be considered without required forms and documentation, so take care to be thorough. Please note that applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed.

Award Application Timeline

  • Application submission begins: February 4, 2019
  • Application deadline: 11:59 pm March 1, 2019
  • Review period: March 1 – March 15, 2019
  • Notification of applicants – on or about March 18, 2019
  • Teacher Inservice 3/14/19  4:30 – 7:30 pm – Bristow, VA. Please register 703-792-7747 or master_gardener@pwcgov.org
  • Garden year: March 2019 – December 2019
  • Final garden report deadline: March 1, 2020

Required forms

  •  Application
  • Signed letter of support from school principal or agency director, or board of directors
  •  A Federal IRS Tax-Exempt letter
  • Your EIN # is on your 501 (c)(3) tax exempt documentation letter, if applicable
  • W-9 form for your organization
  • Signed signature page
  • Letter indicating amount of matching funds available on letterhead of organization
